What is the difference between 35% and 70% KDP royalty?

The 70% tier applies to ebooks priced 2.99–9.99 and deducts a small per-MB delivery fee. The 35% tier works at any price with no delivery fee. This tool shows both so you can see which actually leaves you with more.

How is paperback royalty calculated?

Since June 2025 Amazon uses a tiered rate: 60% of your list price for books priced 9.99 or above, 50% below that — then it subtracts the printing cost, which grows with page count and is far higher for color.

Are these numbers exact?

They use Amazon's current published formulas and are a close estimate. Exact delivery and printing costs vary slightly by marketplace and file. Always confirm against KDP before pricing.
